10 Minutes With … I Love You Too’s Yvonne Strahovski

Flashback to last June and Yvonne Strahovski, 27, is lunching on prawns and salad on the East Brighton, Melbourne, set of the comedy I Love You Too with writer and co-star Peter Helliar and WHO senior editor Simone Casey. Born and raised in Sydney, Strahovski has flown in from Los Angeles while on hiatus from her role in the hit US series Chuck (Season 3 returns to Fox8 in July). “We got her at a good time,” says Helliar. “Her role [as star Brendan Cowell's English girlfriend, Alice] doesn’t have as many punch-lines as everyone else – she had to find her moments, and she has.”

You’re pretty settled in Los Angeles.
Yeah, now I’ve got my own place, and my parents actually moved over. My parents [Peter and Bozena] left Poland, came to Australia, had me and there was only ever the three of us together. They’ve got a very young vibe, they hang out with my friends when I’m not around. It’s hard for them. LA isn’t the most sympathetic town – it’s not like Melbourne or Sydney where there’s a central city and it’s friendly. It’s really spread out.

Have you got a bloke, a special man?

Yeah, there’s a special man. He came to visit me twice [on I Love You Too], he’s an American boy, his name’s Tim [Loden], Timmy! He’s an actor as well.

You play a CIA agent in Chuck. Are you really fit?

I have a trainer. Her name’s Michelle Lovitt – she trains Courteney Cox. I do a lot of cardio, but I’m not anal about it. When I work, my sleep is my No. 1 priority. I do a lot of hiking in the canyons and my dogs, Chazzie and Willy, come with me.

Do you run into Courteney now and then?
I have, actually! I went to the premiere of Dirt, and met Courteney and her husband, David [Arquette].

So you get to rub shoulders with the people you used to watch on telly!
I do! When I was 12, I used to be obsessed with Friends. One of my best friends, Ornella, and I would go over to each other’s houses and cook dinner for our families, and then go and watch Friends. And to have been to Courteney’s premiere, and Matt Perry was there, and we’re all hanging out, talking … As a kid you idolise these people – it’s so funny making that transition.

Sometimes, you feel you know someone because you’ve seen them on TV.
Absolutely. Hollywood is a world in its own right, and having been there now for three and a half years, I can see how easy it is for people to slip into bad habits. The pressure to look a certain way, dress a certain way, and the hours you have to put in, it’s unrealistic.

Exclusive: The full Jeffster! video from the finale of ‘Chuck’

We saw glimpses of it in Monday’s “Chuck” finale, but behold, for the first time, the entire Jeffster music video!

Jeff and Lester, the Buy More’s scariest awesomest clerks, worked for two whole weekends on this video — their fiery cover of Jon Bon Jovi’s “Blaze of Glory.” I think this looks like they worked on it for two-and-a-half weekends, but maybe that’s just me.

Feast your eyes on this visual awesomeness!

Mailbag: Could NBC Pull a Southland and Cancel Chuck Before It Airs?

Hi.
With the “Chuck” season finale having record low ratings, I’m worried NBC could go all “Southland” on “Chuck” and cancel it before it even airs an episode. Could it happen?

- Linda, Chippewa Falls, Wi.

While anything is possible, I’d be absolutely stunned if Chuck was pulled before even airing an episode. Especially with the sensitivity over Southland which, like Chuck, is also produced by Warner Bros, and with NBC wanting to appear all lovey-dovey with Hollywood so the Comcast acquisition gets approved, I just don’t see anything like that happening.

Still, NBC seems to be giving The Event a marketing push, and having a diminishing Chuck (which it appears NBC will never promote much again) as a lead-in must give NBC some heartburn. But so many things give NBC heartburn that coming in fourth at Mondays at 8pm surely can’t be at the top of that list.

What could NBC stick at Mondays at 8pm that would improve things versus Chuck and help The Event more?

Digital Spy interview with Zac about Season 3

The current holder of the title “funniest spy drama starring Zachary Levi” is back for a third season. The last we saw of Chuck, our eponymous hero had destroyed the upgraded Intersect, not before downloading its contents into his head. Now he’s keen to become an actual, proper spy – but it’s not going to be an easy path. Naturally. Keen for the latest intel, we called up Mr. Bartowski to find out more.

The renewal for season three of Chuck last year was rather last minute. How did you feel about that?
“I was a little surprised that we were on the chopping block to begin with, just because I felt like we were one of NBC’s shows that was at least holding steady within whatever our time was. We were on one of the toughest nights in television – Mondays. I felt like we were doing pretty good. As we got closer and closer to the upfronts and still no answer I thought we were sitting pretty well and then we weren’t and I was like: ‘If we’re not meant to come back we’re not meant to come back.’ But the whole grassroots fan campaign was really smart; patronising one’s advertisers is smart. You’re not just annoying a network with hordes of letters, you’re doing what they want you to do which is spend money on the products that are advertised, whether or not you watch the commercials. I didn’t think we were not going to be renewed then I came round to thinking we were dead in the water and then the fans rose up. It’s amazing to have fans like that who care so much about what you do.”

Do you visit messageboards for more detailed fan feedback?
“Every once in a while, yeah, I’ll check some boards. It’s informative and fascinating at the same time. The things that people say or the quandaries or hypotheses they come up with – it’s pretty entertaining. Some of it is right on but I guess that’s part of doing what we do. You have opinions and whatnot thrown around a lot – correct or not. It’s always interesting to read them, good or bad, to see where people are at with the show.”

You had Brandon Routh as a guest star for some of this season. What was it like working with him?
“It was cool. I’ve known Brandon for a while. We were already friends through playing poker and basketball back in Los Angeles, and we have some of the same friends. When he called me and said ‘I just met with Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak about playing a role on Chuck – I think I’m going to do it’, it was really cool. It’s always cool when you have good people come and work with you and it’s even cooler if you know that person already. We had a good time.”

Does Josh talk to you much about how future story arcs will pan out?
“Yeah, I try to get some talk time in with Josh or Chris or Robert Duncan McNeil – anyone who can give me information. The more information you can have as you go into it, the better. For the fourth season, I’ll most definitely be sitting down with Josh and Chris and or whoever and get the broad strokes idea of where we’re going. It’s tough though. I wouldn’t say I’m a blabbermouth but when I get excited about something on the show I want to talk about it but at the same time I don’t want to spoil it, so sometimes it’s better if they don’t tell me anything!”

You also have Christopher Lloyd on for a guest spot this season. How was that for you?
“Awesome. He’s a really nice guy. The biggest perk was that he plays a shrink so I get to call him Doc! As somebody growing up with Back to the Future on his mind the whole time and being so jealous of Michael J Fox – to be able to do a few scenes where I’m calling Christopher Lloyd ‘Doc’ is pretty epic!”

Chuck season three premieres May 31 on Virgin1.

Armchair Casting Director: Who should play Chuck’s [spoiler alert]?

SPOILER ALERT: If you have yet to watch last night’s Chuck finale, stop reading now. I repeat, if you have yet to watch last night’s Chuck finale, stop reading now. For the last time, if you have yet to watch last night’s Chuck, stop reading now. Everyone else, onward and downward…

Since last night’s season finale of Chuck revealed that the Everyspy’s absentee mom isn’t gonna be MIA for much longer, I have three words for you: Armchair. Casting. Director. Who should play Mary Elizabeth Bartowski, aka the cult fave’s new secret agent lady? Here are my picks:

Sean Young: If she isn’t as crazy as they used to say, and if she’s still got the chops that made her a Next Big Thing in the ’80s, she could be swell. (Remember, she was actually good in No Way Out.) Heaven knows, since she’s doing soaps now — she just signed on for a stint on The Young and the Restless — she’s majorly available.

Lynda Carter: Even without the bullet-deflecting bracelets and invisible jet, the erstwhile Wonder Woman would be a force to be reckoned with. And, thanks to Diana Prince, we already know she’s a master of disguise — a must for any Mata Hari type, right?

Jane Badler: Yeah, yeah, I know you love the new V, but for my money, there will never be a bigger badass than the original miniseries’ Diana. With nothing more than a withering stare, she can make mice of men. And then devour them. Hot. Cool. Terrifying!

Kate Jackson: This one’s almost too perfect. She has a history of crimefighting (Charlie’s Angels), espionage experience (The Scarecrow and Mrs. King), and golly, isn’t it a shame they killed off Scott Bakula before they got to a play a scene together? If she could spark with Bruce Boxleitner — and she did — she and Bakula woulda plum combusted.

Jamie Lee Curtis: The legendary Halloween scream queen would have to dye her new silver ‘do dark again to play Chuck’s brunette mom, but it might be worth a trip to the salon. The same as True Lies did, the show’s mix of comedy and adventure would play right to her strengths. Um, maybe we don’t have to have her strip this time, though…

So those are my top choices. Who are yours? Let loose below!

10 reasons you MUST watch tonight’s Chuck season finale

Chuck’s enormous two-hour, two-episode finale airs tonight, and there’s one thing creator Chris Fedak wants you to know. “It’s the craziest two hours of Chuck we’ve ever done,” Fedak said in an exclusive interview. “We’ve done a couple of two-hour episodes in the past, and we always say, ‘Oh, each week is like a little movie.’ But this finale is not little. There is nothing little about it.”

(Gigantic Spoilers Alert!)

How big is it? Well, big enough that we’ve got 10 reasons from Fedak why you should watch tonight’s season-three finale on NBC at 8 p.m. ET/PT:

1. You get two episodes for the price of one, Buy More style! First up is “Chuck Versus the Subway,” and no, we’re not talking that Subway! Sandwich eating is optional… And the second episode is “Chuck Versus the Ring, Part II.” Do not expect to see Ellie get married again. It’s so not that kind of ring this time. (That was last year!) In fact, Fedak said, “That ‘part two’ is just me being pretentious. I just wanted to be like The Godfather, Part Two.” In the finale Brandon Routh is back as Daniel Shaw, and guess what? He “has his own Intersect loaded into his head,” he said.

2. Yep, Shaw’s back, and you can call him Two-Face! “We do have the return of Shaw, and that’s one of the big changes. But it’s not the Shaw that you know, that we left in episode 13 … the tortured agent who decided to seek revenge. This is a version of Shaw who’s embracing the dark side. And Brandon is wonderful in the part as the guy who’s flipped the coin. He’s embraced the Two-Face of it all and has become the villain,” said Fedak.

“We had always planned that he would be our Harvey Dent character. That we would essentially take someone who was an expert in the Ring and someone with a kind of tragic backstory and fold that back through our characters. And that in the end the season would boil down to Chuck and Shaw.”

3. Which means, Chuck’s going to meet his match! “Absolutely. I mean, in truth there’s a great kind of intensity. I love westerns, and there’s that great moment as you’re heading into the third act of a western.” Cue the spaghetti-western good guy/bad guy face-off music … “Let’s put it this way. I’m never above using some Ennio Morricone on my show.”

4. Luckily, Chuck’s got some serious backup! Chuck and Sarah “make for a wonderful couple, and we were just so excited to tell those stories of their relationship. And not from the perspective ‘will they/won’t they,’ but from the perspective of a young couple,” said Fedak. And then there’s the other wonderful new couple on the show, Casey and Morgan. “They’re obviously a couple. We realized that we had this perfect odd couple earlier in the season.” We’ll also see Elli and Awesome in action, as well as Papa Bartowski (Scott Bakula), and, of course, the Buy More gang.

5. But someone’s going to die! “Nobody is safe. … The show this season is a dangerous show, and the world that Chuck lives in is a dangerous place, and not everyone’s going to make it.” So someone we care about is going to die? “Yes,” said Fedak.

6. In fact, it’s so sad that even Fedak gets “emotional” talking about it! “There’s a scene that we have—it’s very hard to go there,” he said, choking up just a bit. “It is so emotional and such a big moment for the show in total, all the episodes … that I actually have a hard time watching. I actually get very emotional. … So it’s a, it’s a, um … yeah, it’s a, um, you know.”

7. Get ready for a giganto, heart-ripping, spy epic! “We’ve set up so much this season, and the puzzle pieces will all fall together in the season finale,” said Fedak. “It is a gigantic, emotional epic. … We have amazing spy stuff, super huge, explosive stuff happening on the show, but we also have these emotional moments that are just as equally huge.”

8. The Buy More’s going bye-bye … maybe! According to the preview for the final episodes, it looks a whole lot like it might be an explosive time at the Buy More. “I will not comment on what you may have seen in the promotion for the show. I was shocked, shocked, to see that,” said Fedak, sounding mock-shocked. In fact, he sounded a little like he wanted to giggle. … We’re just saying. However, he does admit, “There are many exciting, huge things about to happen.” Like explosive, epic, emotional things?

9. In fact, it’s gonna change Chuck forever! So the finale’s got “big, kind of game-changing moments,” “huge spy stuff” and “great emotional moments,” said Fedak. “The show will never be the same after the episode is done.” And, oh, yeah … “It’s funny!”

10. And the best news: Chuck’s been renewed for a fourth season! So here’s your very first teaser for next season … “I’ll say this, season four is about family,” said Fedak.

NBC This Fall: Chuck Still On Mondays; New Comedy After The Office

We’re just a few hours away from NBC officially announcing their schedule for next season, but we now know what to expect, at least as far as their initial fall schedule is concerned.

The Hollywood Reporter’s James Hibberd has seen the schedule NBC is currently planning, as they attempt to revitalize their struggling schedule. The network has picked up a notable thirteen new series, but it’s clear NBC is not going to attempt to launch all of these series simultaneously, as several of their new series – including The Cape (with Summer Glau) and Perfect Couples (with Olivia Munn) won’t be debuting in September, but held for later in the season.

There are a few new NBC comedies coming, including Friends With Benefits and the just ordered Next (with Paul Reiser). However, only one of these new half-hour shows, Outsourced, will begin in September, where it gets the network’s best timeslot for a new comedy – Thursdays at 9:30, after The Office. Meanwhile, 30 Rock will move up to 8:30, following Community. Don’t worry, Parks and Recreation fans, that show has been renewed, but it looks like it will debut a bit later (they are already filming episodes for next season, before taking a break due to star Amy Poehler’s pregnancy). A new comedic one-hour series, Love Bites, will cap of Thursday nights – bringing back a scripted series to the timeslot that had been taken by The Jay Leno Show. and The Marriage Ref in the past year.

With Heroes and Trauma dead, Monday nights will still begin with Chuck (yep, we don’t have to wait until midseason for it this time!), but that series will now lead into two new shows – The Event and Chase. Another high profile new series, J.J. Abrams’ Undercovers, will air Wednesday nights at 8:00, leading into Law & Order: SVU and the new Law & Order: Los Angeles. Outlaw (with Jimmy Smits), will launch on the continually risky Friday night.

Look for this story to be updated later today, as NBC makes their full announcement – which may also include when we might expect some of their other new series to debut.

Here is NBC’s fall schedule, according to The Hollywood Reporter (as they note, there could be last minute changes, by the time NBC makes their announcement a few hours from now):

NBC’S FALL SCHEDULE:

MONDAY

* 8:00 E/P Chuck

* 9:00 E/P The Event (NEW SERIES)

Exclusive: NBC Officially Announces Chuck Renewal, But Producer Ali Adler Moving On

NBC today officially announced that it had renewed action-comedy Chuck for a fourth season of thirteen episodes, landing it a spot on the 2010-11 schedule at the Peacock.

Timeslot/episode order not yet revealed.

“Chuck has proven its enduring appeal and we love the new creative direction that Josh and Chris have taken the show,” said Angela Bromstad, President, Primetime Entertainment, NBC and Universal Media Studios, in a statement.

While news of the renewal leaked out yesterday (and was itself confirmed earlier today by co-creator Josh Schwartz via Twitter), NBC today officially gave words of the Season Four renewal of Chuck in a press release. Josh Schwartz let the masses know via Twitter that he got the official call from NBC this morning.

While the news of Chuck’s renewal is cause for celebration, there is a bit of news that may put a damper on the joyous occasion: Televisionary has learned exclusively that executive producer Ali Adler will not be returning to Chuck for a fourth season.

According to a source close to the situation, Adler has accepted a position on ABC’s new superhero family drama No Ordinary Family, from executive producers Greg Berlanti and Jon Harmon Feldman and ABC Studios. Series, which stars Michael Chiklis, Julie Benz, and Tate Donovan, revolves around a family who gains superpowers when their plane crashes in the Amazon rainforest. Adler is said to have signed on to No Ordinary Family earlier this month, prior to NBC’s decision on Chuck’s fate.

When reached via email, Adler had no comment on the rumor.

Adler will be much missed: not only had she been responsible for writing some of the Warner Bros. Television-produced series’ most beloved episodes but, thanks to her generosity and passion for the series, remained one of its truest champions and advocates.

CHUCK HAS OFFICIALLY BEEN RENEWED!

Several sources, like Tv By the Numbers, chucktv.net, The Live Feed, Ausiello at EW.com and Deadline Hollywood, have confirmed that NBC has renewed Chuck for a 4 season!
So far, Chuck season 4 has been given a 13 episode order. Many people are speculating whether NBC will order the back-9 episodes, making this fourth season complete with 22 episodes. Let this be mere speculation until proven other wise. :D

Either way, I'm ecstatic! :D :D

So, congratulations fellow Chucksters! :D

Study Puts Chuck in Top 25 Content Power Rankings

According to a study released today, Chuck is one of the most powerful television shows in terms of total cross-platform audience size, advocacy and involvement. Optimedia goes beyond traditional Nielsen viewer ratings and ranks network and cable programs across TV, Web and mobile platforms. New to the study this year are two additional streams: Facebook fan count and Nielsen BuzzMetrics, both of which quantify unique aspects of digital activity: the number of “friends” TV shows have on Facebook, and the sentiment of conversations on blogs and chatrooms related to those shows. Chuck landed at #25 on their list, just behind The Big Bang Theory.

In short: while Chuck’s weekly ratings may not be stellar, it has one of the most involved

RUMORED!: Chuck Lives On With 13 Episode Renewal

I’m not able to confirm it yet, but a source that has been very reliable in the past says Chuck has received a standard 13 episode pickup with an option for a back 9. Hardly a shocker if true, unless you were one of those definitively declaring it had zero chance for renewal. If that’s you, please wait for confirmation before going into hiding!

Update: again, my understanding of the deal is that it’s a standard 13+9 order (NBC has the option to order 9 more episodes, commonly referred to as a “back 9″) and that indicates Chuck would be on the fall schedule. Last year (for the current season). Chuck was announced as a mid-season show to begin with last May and there was no “back 9″ attached. Later its air date was pushed up to early January and NBC ordered six additional episodes.

Ratings: “Chuck versus the Tooth” Stays Flat

It’s another good news/bad news situation for Chuck fans, depending on your particular outlook. The fast overnights are in for “Chuck vs. the Tooth” and while they aren’t down from last week, they also aren’t up. Against new shows on the broadcast networks and a pair of hyped playoff games, Chuck pulled a 1.9 in the 18-49 demo (same as last week) with approximately 5.33 million viewers tuning in (up a smidge from last week's 5.28 million).

Chuck still drew NBC’s highest demo ratings for the night, however. And once again, we aren’t the only ones scratching our heads over low numbers: The Live Feed reports that House drew its lowest numbers since 2004.

NBC Gives Fans One Less Sleepless Night, Will Announce 2010-11 Lineup Sunday

Perhaps wanting to seize a news cycle advantage, NBC will not wait for its advertiser upfront meeting on Monday morning to announce its 2010-11 season schedule, but will do so Sunday at 5:15pm Eastern time instead. That will have NBC’s schedule in the slower media, while Fox is in the process of announcing its new schedule on Monday (in a 9am Eastern conference call)

♥ ‘Chuck’ Preview: A Sexy Blast From The Past!

Where in the world was Anna Wu? NBC’s ‘Chuck‘ answers that question this Monday at 8/7c, when Julia Ling reprises her role of Morgan’s former Buy More love interest. (When last we saw the sassy clerk, she had abandoned the Beard to pursue a new life and love in Hawaii.) Ling shared a look at how Morgan’s own new secret agent secret just might rock Anna’s world.

Julia, it’s so good to have you back! So where has Anna been, what has she been up to…?
Anna’s been in Hawaii, doing inappropriate things with the Benihana chef which shall not be discussed. [Laughs]

Does she still possess her unique sense of style?
She’s got this sexy tan going, so she comes back with that – a really awesome tan.

♥ The Ausiello Files – Scoop: I spy a ‘Chuck’ pickup!

Multiple sources confirm that NBC is expected to do the right thing and renew the action comedy for a fourth season. Per one insider, the show has thus far figured into all of the network’s preliminary plans for its May 17 upfront presentation.

Although a 13-episode pickup is the most likely scenario, my moles suggest that there’s also chance the show could be given a full season order.

An NBC rep had no comment. Series creator Josh Schwartz, meanwhile, says not to believe the hype. Renewal? “That’s news to me,” he swears. “I would urge fans to take nothing for granted… and watch tonight’s all-new episode, guest-starring Doc Brown himself, Christopher Lloyd, and the return of Anna Wu (Julia Ling).”

Listen to the man. And NBC, listen to the fans. Chuck fans, the comments section below is all yours. Post away!

Yvonne to Star in Action Movie ‘The Killer Elite’

Yvonne Strahovski has been cast in the upcoming action film The Killer Elite, led by British stars Clive Owen and Jason Statham. Yvonne’s role is that of Statham’s character’s girlfriend and will, says the film’s producer, launch Yvonne in a big way. Of course we’re all familiar with her acting skills and total gorgeousness, but this could indeed bring her to the attention of a worldwide audience.

The Killer Elite begins filming in Melbourne this week, so it looks like Yvonne will get to spend her Chuck hiatus on native soil again.

Zachary Levi Tells Spanish Media Season 4 Is “Likely”

Zachary Levi is in Spain to promote Chuck before continuing through Europe on his tour. Zac gave an exclusive interview with Spanish website www.formulatv.com, where he talked about Chuck’s chances at another season.

Zac declared:

“I think that it’s more likely that we will have a fourth season, but we don’t know. We should find out in one more week. The upfronts are in May 17th but I hope I will get a phone call in more week saying you have a job”.

What will he do if proven wrong?

“If Chuck doesn’t come back I’ll keep growing the beard, I’ll learn Spanish better, another show, hopefully some movies… The television schedule is very long and crazy, there’s not a lot of time to do movies when you’re doing television. So there will be more opportunities to do a movie or… videogames, I don’t know,” he laughed.

When asked about directing an episode this season, Zac said

“it was amazing … I have always wanted to direct, write and produce. I just was waiting for the right opportunity, and this was the right opportunity. It was difficult starring the show and direct the show at the same time”. “It turned out very good, I think. I was very proud at the end of the day”.

Zac also talked about his recent singing experience with Katharine McPhee. He confessed: “I love singing and hope that I can do it professionally in some way, but acting is my bread and butter. If people like, maybe I’ll do some more, but if people don’t, maybe I’ll stop”.

The full interview (in Spanish) is on Formula TV’s website.

Review of 3.15- Chuck versus the Role Models by me

I must begin by saying that I was a bit disappointed with this week's episode. I thought there would be much more excitement and fun. The "Role Model couple" were cool, but they didn't lead our favourite spy-couple to that much action, though it was quite nice to see some "normal" discussions between Chuck and Sarah. In the majority of the previous episodes, though, the discussions have been evened out, and combined with having to follow such an excellent episode as the Honeymooners, the expectations must obviously have been to high. There was definitely a lot of funny and cool moments, but I noticed that they were mostly caused by Morgan, which is not that odd, but Chuck has always been the biggest contributor, hence the show's name CHUCK. That is a bit worrying and made me think that they may be "closing" things down now and in a way ending the show. Many of the viewers must have agree with me in some of this, since the ratings dropped from a more reassuring 2.1 to a very much worrisome 1.9. I will of course NOT give up my hope of a fourth season, and I still feel very confident about the matter.

Some of the AWESOME moments from this episode:

- To start at the beginning; the intro was really fun, funny and cool.
- All the moments with Morgan's spy training and Casey's respons, or lack of said response, were great.
- The being locked-in-the-room-with-the-tiger Sasha moments were great!

- The ending with Justin turning out to be working with the Ring was exciting (and I'm really looking forward to next week's episode.)
- Of course Sarah and Chuck moving in was really satisfying, as I am a died-hard fan of the Bartowski's!

Some of the not so awesome moments from this episode:
- The filming of the Ellie talking to Justin in the woods was really horrible.
- Missed some more action and fight sequence.... :(
- No Jeff and Lester in this episode.

To end with a semi-quoting Ellie in Chuck versus the truth: "If everything is awesome, than awesome by definition is just mediocre". Meaning that if everyone of the episode's were equally as awesome, than awesome by definition wouldn't be more than mediocre.

Really can't wait to next week's episode. It's looking quite dramatic and potentially heart aching, if not definitely nail biting.

-Yvonne

Channel Surfing: Chuck Renewal Prognosis Improved, Sarah Wayne Callies Hunts The Walking Dead, Conan, Castle, and More

Welcome to your Monday morning television briefing.

Could it be that things are looking up for Chuck? Deadline.com’s Nellie Andreeva breaks down the current on the bubble series at the broadcast networks, including NBC’s Chuck. “Last year, NBC’s Chuck got an 11th hour reprieve, clinching a partial 3rd-season order on Sunday afternoon before upfront week,” writes Andreeva. “This time around, its fate will be decided earlier if the show’s producers get their way. Several days ago, creators Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak pitched NBC their vision for Season 4 and producing studio Warner Bros asked the network for a quick resolution so the series could keep its writing staff. Even with NBC brass happy with their drama development, the spy dramedy’s chances of renewal are considered very good — and certainly a lot better than last year when a sponsorship deal with Subway sealed the renewal. With the show rising in the ratings this week and fans staging rallies tomorrow, Chuck may be one solid ratings performance… away from an early renewal.” [Editor: in other words, tune in tonight in huge numbers and LIVE.] (Deadline.com)
Meanwhile, today marks the day for the multi-city Chuck flash mobs, but if you’re not in one of the cities participating, don’t fret: you can still show your support for a fourth season of Chuck by participating in the Twitter mob scheduled for today between noon and 1 pm Pacific Time. Sample tweets include: “@NBC – We want more #CHUCK! Give us another season of flashes and fun. The world’s safety depends on it! #FlashChuck” or “#CHUCK rules! @NBC show your love for CHUCK and the fans will show their love back. We want a 4th season! #FlashChuck” (ChuckTV.net)

Chuck' Fans Plan Buy More Themed Flash Mobs

“‘Chuck’ fans are the most loyal, dedicated, imaginative and passionate fans any show could ever hope for,” says series co-creator Josh Schwartz.
It turns out he wasn’t kidding.
To show their support for the NBC show, which is currently “on the bubble,” fans will stage flash mobs in four cities this Monday, notes The Hollywood Reporter.
If you live in Chicago, Seattle, San Diego and Philadelphia, expect to see hordes of people dressed like Buy More employees, either in a green polo shirt and khakis or short-sleeved white dress shirt, tie and black pants. This follows last year’s “Finale and a Footlong” campaign that made national headlines when fans bought sandwiches from ‘Chuck’ sponsor Subway. While last year’s fan initiative was geared toward advertisers, this year’s actions are designed to attract more viewers to the show.
“This is yet another example of their awesomeness,” Schwartz said. “We are, as always, grateful and inspired to deliver a show as good to them as they are to us.”
NBC has not yet given word whether it intends to renew the series for a fourth season, but Chuck’s proved steady in the ratings, unlike fellow-Monday-night series, ‘Heroes,’ which has dipped to new lows.
