Zachary Levi directing another episode of Chuck

“Chuck” star Zachary Levi is stepping back behind the camera to direct another episode of the show.

Levi is pulling double duty this week by directing the 10th episode of the season, he told Zap2it at the press junket for his upcoming Disney movie “Tangled.” It’s his second time helming an episode; he also directed “Chuck vs. the Best Friend” last year.

“We wrapped at 3:30 in the morning Friday [Oct. 22], and I have to be on set at 6:30 [Monday] to tell everyone what the shot is,” he says.

The episode is called “Chuck vs. the Leftovers,” and while NBC hasn’t released a synopsis yet, we know it will feature Linda Hamilton and Timothy Dalton in their guest roles as Mary Bartowski and Gregory Tuttle, Mary’s MI-6 handler.

Levi also tells us that “Chuck” has become popular overseas, particularly in South America. “It’s weird, but it’s awesome,” he says of the show’s international following. “I really hope I get to go to all of these places, not just to bask in, ‘Eet’s Chuck!,’ but to tell people who are fans, ‘Thank you so much.’

“Why does it travel? I don’t know. I think maybe it’s because it deals in universal themes. A lot of the comedy is not necessarily specifically American comedy, and working at an electronics store, people can relate to that. I can only hope it’s because what we’re doing romantically, comedically, actionably — that’s not a word — is all something people everywhere on some level can relate to.”

“Chuck’s” first episode with Dalton airs Monday (Nov. 1), and “Tangled” hits theaters on Nov. 24.
